I will be reviewing the top 3 of my most used Trow and Holden carbide tipped stone chisels. They are all equally impressive, last a long time and have very durable carbide.
The first one is the Trow and Holden Hand Set. I use the 1 1/8″ handle stock with a 2″ blade width. Its beefy, comfortable and knocks off a good amount of stone. Its takes a while before the head starts to mushroom, a long while.
When working with a flatter stone such as on this Corinthian Granite Stone Chimney in Massachusetts we built, the hand set saw a lot of use. I like to use it to remove a large amount of stone and get it close to the shape I need . At this point I will switch to a different chisel. I don’t use any other brand stone chisel.
Always wear safety glasses!
This stone trimming tools is made with the very best carbide to hold its shape. Place trimming edge on your score line and angle back slightly before striking. When your edge gets dull, turn it over and use the other side. Blade must come in full contact with the stone. Always wear safety glasses.
